Ongole: Backward Classes Welfare Minister M Sankara Narayana said that stringent action will be taken on those officials who are negligent in duties. The Minister toured Prakasam district on Friday and inspected the BC Boys Residential School in Vetapalem before conducting a review meeting with BC welfare hostel officials in the Collectorate.

During his visit to the BC Residential school, Sankara Narayana inspected the hostel, classrooms, dining hall, kitchen, digital classroom and interacted with the Class VII and X students. After asking a few questions on Telugu grammar and English medium, the minister asked the teachers and hostel officials to improve standards of education.

Stating that the Chief Minister was bringing revolutionary changes in education sector, he said that the students would have a bright future with English as the medium of instruction. In the review meeting with the officials, the minister announced that the Chief Minister was giving top priority to education and was taking all measures to provide infrastructure in all schools, along with hostels under Nadu-Nedu programme.

He directed the officials to see the enrolment in the BC welfare hostels to improve and instructed them to register biometric attendance of students from December and send the same to the district office daily. He also asked the district officials to initiate action on the hostel officials if they fail to send the attendance details for three consecutive days.

He also ordered them to serve quality food to the students and conduct a meeting with the parents once in a month. He asked them to conduct medicals tests to students in hostels every month and encourage them to participate in sports and extracurricular activities.

In the press meet, the minister said the Chief Minister wants the welfare of poor, BC, SC, ST and minorities and introduced English medium to provide quality education.
