Surya Namaskaram, asanas performed at Srisailam temple

Kurnool: On the auspicious occasion of Rathasapthami and for the first time in the temple history, the authorities of Srisailam temple have organised "Surya Namaskaram" at Srisailam temple on Saturday. The programme was organised from 7.00 am to 8.30 am at Bhramari Kala Vedika near Mada Veedi on the southern part of the temple.

Following the temple tradition, the Executive Officer, KS Rama Rao, Archaka Swamis and the temple officials lit the lamp (Jyothi Prajvalana) to mark the inauguration. Later eminent Yoga Guru, Hanumantha Reddy of Hyderabad performed Yoga Aasanas and briefed about the importance of Surya Namaskaram.

Addressing on the occasion, KS Rama Rao said Surya Namaskaram has been organised as part of Dharma Pracharam. According to Indian tradition and culture, Surya Namaskaram has got great prominence. As per the Soura Puranam, the sun is regarded as Namaskara lover. Even the mythology Maha Bharata says that after having early morning bath and praying the sun god will relieve people from sins.

He further said that Surya Bhagavan is also regarded as Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva and he is the Annadata to the whole universe. Surya Bhagavan is the creator of day and night. The EO made an appeal to the parents to wake their children early in the morning and include Surya Namaskaram in their schedule.

The Yoga guru, Hanumanta Reddy said physical and mental peace could be attained with Surya Namaskaram and it a good exercise to muscles and organs. Later the Yoga guru and his associates performed Surya Namaskarams.

Head master of Zillah Parishad High School, SP Ranga Reddy, teacher, Narayana Reddy, students and locals participated in Surya Namaskaram programme.
