Tadepalli: CM YS Jagan urged to solve women's problems

Tadepalli: The political leadership, people's representatives and persons at the top level should take initiative to put an end to atrocities on women and discrimination against them, said Vasireddy Padma, Chairperson of the AP Mahila Commission when she met Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at his camp office on Wednesday.

In a representation to the Chief Minister, the Chairperson opined that there should be reforms in every sector and they should start at the political level.

Padma said that the reforms should concentrate on sexual harassment of women and hate language against women at work place, minimum facilities like toilets at the work place for women, regular counseling for girls right from intermediate to the postgraduate level to be cautious regarding technology and cyber crimes. She appealed to the Chief Minister to take initiative to involve the Village Secretariats to prevent atrocities against children and minor girls.

She underlined the need to attach a counseling wing with the Disha police stations to provide counseling to the people in case of family disputes.

Padma said that the Mahila Commission is giving priority to the educational institutions, voluntary service organisations and women employees to achieve women empowerment by keeping them in the frontline.

Later, the Chairperson told the media that the Chief Minister responded positively to the suggestions by saying that the government was sincere in changing the status of women in the society.
