Amaravati: In a sharp reaction to the criticism of the YSRCP, the TDP general body said that the present government gave permission to the LG Polymers to use styrene gas, which claimed 12 lives and caused a huge loss to the entire eco-system. The party held the meet on Tuesday through a video conference.

Asking Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and YSRCP MP V Vijayasai Reddy to own responsibility, the TDP passed a resolution demanding that LG Polymers be closed down at its present location for developing a park to improve the environment there in the future health interests of the local people. Gas tragedy was a human error as styrene storage tank temperature rose to 130 to 150 degrees as against the required 20 degrees, the party noted in its resolution.

TDP took a strong exception to YSRCP MLA Dharmasri's comment that many people were wishing deaths in their families to get Rs 1 crore compensation.

Addressing the leaders, party president N Chandrababu Naidu accused the Jagan Mohan Reddy government of lying to the courts while trying to shift CM camp office to Visakhapatnam from May 28 in violation of court's orders.

The party also criticised the government for increasing electricity tariff.
