Timings fixed for entry of sand vehicles into city: DSPs
Police officials have imposed restrictions on movement of sand-laden vehicles in the city limits as per new sand policy of the State government.
Nellore: Police officials have imposed restrictions on movement of sand-laden vehicles in the city limits as per new sand policy of the State government. Nellore city DSP J Srinivasulu Reddy and Traffic DSP P Mallikarjuna Rao, interacting with the media on Thursday, said that they had imposed restrictions on movement of sand tractors during daytime in the city limits.
They said that the sand-laden tractors would be allowed into the city only between 9 pm and 6 am and the same timings would be applicable to trucks carry vegetables to the main market in the city.
The DSPs also warned that they would take severe action against the tractors and trucks that enter the city during daytime. They explained that transportation of sand has to be done between 6 am and 6 pm as per new sand policy of the State government.
But this has been creating traffic issue in Nellore city. Tractors and trucks are carrying sand from Pottepalem via Nellore city.
SP Aishwarya Rastogi discussed with the Collector MV Seshagiri Babu and they had taken a decision to allow only during 9 pm and 6 am and no vehicles would be allowed from the sand reaches during the daytime,' said the DSPs.
