Tirupati: There is a significant increase in TTD income through Hundi offerings and also the number of pilgrims who had darshan in February month this year.

According to TTD sources, a record number of 21.68 lakh devotees had darshan of Lord Venkateswara in February 2020. On an average, daily 70,000 devotees offered prayers to Lord Venkateswara.

Last year in February, the number of pilgrims who had darshan was only 18.93 lakh.

The revenue through Kanukas, cash offerings in the Hundi at Tirumala temple was Rs 89.07 crore for the month of February this year against Rs 83.44 crore same month last year, registering an increase of Rs 5.63 crore.

Distribution of Annaprasadam, laddus, accommodation and tonsures have also increased this year in February.

Annaprasadam (free food) was provided to 48.40 lakh pilgrims in February against 43.94 lakh devotees last year same month while 83.91 lakh laddus were sold to devotees this February as against 82.38 lakh laddus last year.

In all, 7.77 lakh devotees got hair tonsuring done at Tirumala in February this year as against 6.70 lakh during the same period last year.

With regard to accommodation, the TTD has achieved a record 103 % occupancy of rooms in February this year as against 102 % occupancy last year.
