Lord Venkateshwara Swamy temple in Tirumala will remain closed from 6 pm on July 16 to 5 am on July 17 due to the lunar eclipse.

The eclipse falls between 1.31 am to 4.29 am on July 17. The devotees will be allowed inside the temple from 11 am, after the suddhi, punyahavachanam and other purificatory rituals.

According to the traditional practice, the temple will be closed six hours before the eclipse. All the other temples on the hill shrine will be also closed.

As the temple will remain closed for around 16 hours and in the view of Anivara Asthanam on July 17, the TTD cancelled the conduct of Arjitha Brahmotsavam, Vasantotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankarana at the temple.
