Tirupati: Sri City entered India Book of Records for organising the largest rally for industrial safety in the country on Wednesday. As part of the National Safety Week celebrations, Sri City in association with HR Forum, all the industrial units and the AP government organised a walkathon for educating the stakeholders on the importance of industrial safety.

The walkathon had the record turnout of the participants, drawn from all industries right from senior managers to workers, totalling 5867.

Well before the dawn, all the participating employees gathered at the grounds adjacent to the entry gate, forming in rows and blocks, as per the guidelines of India Book of Records. At 7 am, Sri City MD Ravindra Sannareddy, deputy chief inspector of factories, Government of AP, Sivakumar Reddy, Sri City SEZ development commissioner Muthuraj and DSP Vimalakumari flagged off the walkathon.

After the walkathon, Vivek Nair of India Book of Records declared before the gathering that it was the largest rally for industrial safety with 5,867 participants, breaking the previous record with 4,000 participants and 3 km walk. He congratulated the Sri City MD and other participating units. Sivakumar Reddy stated that the grand success of the rally portrays the commitment and the seriousness of the industries towards implementation of safety. Overwhelmed with the record created, Ravindra Sannareddy described it as a unique feat and Sri Citizens could prove their distinction once again by setting up the record.
