Tirupati: World Environment Day was celebrated by planting saplings by various departments and NGOs (non-government organisations) in the city on Friday. Urban police authorities took up planting of saplings at Tirupati Armed Reserve police grounds and at all police stations on the occasion of World Environment day. At about 9.00 am in the morning, Tirupati Urban SP A Remsh Reddy and MCT Commissioner PS Girisha jointly planted various saplings along with police and municipal corporation officials.

And also AP Pollution Control Board officials conducted awareness meeting with collaboration of SV Zoopark as well as regional science centre here at RSC auditorium. In this connection, they conducted online lecture by Assistant Conservator of Forest Dr N Sivaram Prasad on`Biodiversity of Seshachalam. An online quiz was also organised for students from RSC on environment issues. Officials of three departments and students participated in planting of saplings programme.
