Urban SP Dr Gaja Rao Bhupal flagged off the rally at District Police Office and said that wearing helmet is mandatory for all two wheeler riders.

The act was there already, and police department wants to implement it strictly for the safety of bike riders.

For this, awareness will be created among the public through rallies and other programmes before enforcing the mandatory use of helmets.

As part of the initiative, police personnel riding bikes are asked to wear helmets without fail.

If anyone violates this, disciplinary action will be initiated, he warned. Such awareness activities will also be held in Universities.

The SP also warned against the use of police stickers on the vehicles and said that they will conduct special drives to check the indiscriminate use of press and other stickers on vehicles.

"For the safety of lives from unexpected accidents, everyone driving a two- wheeler should use helmets. This will safeguard their family members too," the SP stated. Traffic DSP Musthafa, Inspectors Suresh Kumar, Satyanarayana and other staff have participated.
