Denduluru: Micro-observers should ensure that the last voter who approached the polling station before closing time of 6 pm exercise his or her franchise during the polling day, said Eluru parliamentary constituency election general observer Dev Dutt Sharma. He was addressing a training session of micro-observers here on Tuesday along with Collector and District Election Officer Praveen Kumar. He said that no voter, who is waiting in the queue, be turned away.

The election observer called upon the micro observers to make it a point to supply slips to each and every voter waiting in the queue to cast his vote at the stroke of six in the evening. It is the duty of micro-observers to monitor the voting trend since early hours. They should make it a point to make a note of the number of voters present after 5 pm. The Election Commission of India has listed out the aspects to be considered by the micro observers.

Basing on that, the micro observers are supposed to prepare comprehensive report. The EC has appointed Central government employees as micro observers and they are posted to polling stations based on randomization. The micro observers should give a report with clarity to the Election Commission, he added.

District Collector Praveen Kumar, in his remarks, said that the report of micro- observers is the key as it contains all crucial details pertaining to the polling process. On account of this, the micro-observers should discharge their duties with utmost responsibility. They should also focus on the presence of polling agents in the polling station in their reports, he said. Joint Collector-2 Ambedkar and others were present on the occasion.
