Rajamahendravaram: The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated in the city by private and government schools and offices, business establishments and political parties raising slogans Jai Hind. National flag was unfurled in the respective offices.

Hoisting national flag at municipal corporation office, MP Margani Bharat Ram appealed to the people to play a pivotal role in the development of the country which is the need of the hour. Everyone in society should put their efforts to retain the Independence which was obtained with the sacrifices of many great personalities in the country.

It is the duty of everyone in the country to work together to strengthen our country on all fronts and the government is very much particular in this regard. The leaders who sacrificed their lives did so to ensure the fruits of freedom reach all.

Urban and Rural MLAs Adireddy Bhavani, Gorantla Buchaiah Choudary, corporation commissioner Sumit Kumar, additional commissioner NVV Satyanarayana Rao and others participated in the programme.

Sub-Collector Ravirala Mahesh Kumar, district judge B Sai Kalyana Chakravarthi, Nannaya University vice-chancellor Prof P Suresh Varma, divisional public relations officer J Venkateswara Rao hoisted the national flag at their offices.
