Kakinada: District Collector and returning officer of MLC constituency Kartikeya Mishra has said that to speed up the voting process, two voting compartments will be kept readied in polling station for the poll to be held for Graduates Constituency of East and West Godavari districts on March 22.
Addressing the meet with contesting candidates at collectorate here on Monday, the collector said there are 46 candidates in fray for the seat. In view of facilitating the voters, to save time this facility of two voting compartments has been introduced in all the 332 Polling stations in both the districts.
Collector suggested the candidates to educate voters on voting to ensure validity of their votes thereby avoiding mistakes. The collector also said that the ballot paper contains name photo and serial number of the candidate and the voters are expected to vote on priority basis.
Kartikeya Mishra explained the candidates about the process of folding the ballot paper and voting the candidates. The Collector clarified that the slip given to the voters is not valid as ID for voting.
The Collector said that counting will take place in Rangaraya Medical College in Kakinada on 26th of this month and necessary seating arrangements are being made for candidate or his representative.
Collector said that the results of the winning candidate will be based on total number of valid votes polled divided by two, plus adding one.
He said that the process of counting will be a lengthy process as this involves transferable voting for finalisation. MV Govinda Raju DRO and contesting candidates in both the districts attended.
