Vijayawada: With the lifting of Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, the police have decided to give back the vehicles, which they seized from the public for violation of rules under the commissionerate limits. During the last two months, police seized 8427 vehicles for violation of rules.

On the instructions of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy the police decided not to collect penalty and handover vehicles back to the owners. On Sunday, nearly 5,000 vehicles were taken from police headquarters in city and from other police station limits.

Commissioner of police Dwaraka Tirumala Rao instructed the police to collect information and details of the owners before giving the vehicles back to the owners. He asked the vehicle owner s not to violate the rules in future and cooperate with the police department. Vehicle owners heaved a sigh of relief as they got vehicles without paying penalty.
