Vijayawada: Union minister of chemicals and fertilizers D V Sadananda Gowda and Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will inaugurate the new campus of the Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET) built at a cost of Rs 50 crore at Surampalli on Vijayawad-Agiripalli route on Thursday.

The buildings were built at a cost of Rs.20 crore and infrastructure facilities were provided at a cost of Rs 30 crore.

This the joint project of state and Central governments. The foundation for CIPET campus in 2015 and since then the classes were being conducted in various courses in a rented premises in Vijayawada.

So far, around 3,000 candidates have been trained at the CIPET. All the arrangements have been made for the inauguration of the campus on Thursday morning. The main objective of CIPET is train the youth to meet the requirements of the plastic industry.

In a press release on Wednesday, the CIPET announced that thermal lab, optical lab, electrical lab and mechanical lab were built on the new campus. The CIPET is offering courses like diplomas in plastic technology, plastic mould technology, post-graduation diploma in processing and testing.

Various institutions are rendering assistance to train the students studying in the CIPET. The CIPET is maintained by ministry of chemicals and fertilisers, Union government.

The CIPET is carrying out its activities in 37 locations in the country and promoting the plastic and chemical industries across the country.
