Vijayawada: Congress on Friday demanded immediate withdrawal of the black enactments which are detrimental to the interests of the farmers.

AICC secretary Gidugu Rudra Raju addressing newsmen at Andhra Ratna Bhavan criticised the Modi administration for neglecting the welfare of farmers.

Referring to the demonstration of the farmers on the Delhi roads, Rudra Raju said that the Modi administration has been forgetting the welfare of farmers who form 70 per cent of the population.

He ridiculed the Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan for undertaking fast for the farmers when he is the ally of the BJP which brought the black laws.

He came down heavily on Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for opposing the bills in Andhra Pradesh while supporting them in Parliament. The name of Home Minister Amit Shah sends shivers down the spine of both the TDP and YCRCP, he quipped.

It was only the Congress which has been fighting against the black bills from the beginning, he said. So far, ten farmers died of severe cold wave in Delhi but the Modi administration did not care about it, he rued.

The Congress party is demanding collection of public opinion on the three enactments which were claimed by the BJP as farmer-friendly. Later, Rudra Raju went to Eluru and visited the hospital to console the victims of unknown illness.
