Vijayawada: Fine imposed on residents for not wearing masks
Collector inspects busy junctions, main roads
Vijayawada: District Collector Md Imtiaz has expressed ire on the pharmacists, pan shop owners, traders and other people for not wearing masks in the public places and shops in the city.
The collector visited some colonies from Benz Circle to Autonagar in the city on Wednesday to find out whether the people are wearing masks or not. It may be noted that the district administration has announced that Rs 100 fine will be imposed on the persons not wearing masks in the public places from Wednesday onwards in the city.
During his visit to the city, the collector noticed some medical shop owners and pharmacists were not wearing masks in their shops. He questioned them why they were not wearing masks and asked them to pay fine of Rs 100 for not following the rule. He said if the pharmacists don't follow the rules how can they check the spread of Covid-19 in the city.
He also noticed a bank customer not wearing mask and asked him to pay fine of Rs 100 in Patamata. Imtiaz spoke to the elderly people, children and others in Autonagar and Patamata and personally distributed masks. He once again appealed to the people to follow three basic rules of wearing masks, use of sanitizer and maintain physical distance to check the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
He made it clear that people will be sent to quarantine centres, if they caught repeatedly not wearing the masks. Municipal staff with vehicles accompanied the collector.
