Vijayawada: Focus on desiltation works, civic chief tells officials

Vijayawada: Vijayawada Municipal Commissioner Prasanna Venkatesh instructed the public health department to ensure that the de-siltation works would be taken up in all municipal divisions in the city to keep the drains and city clean and tidy. He conducted a review meeting with the officials of the public health department at the IGMC stadium conference hall on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner said de-siltation was very important to keep the drains clean and asked them to take up measures to remove the garbage and silt from the side drains. He said many areas in the city would be badly affected and storm water logs on the roads due to stagnation of drain water in the rainy season.

Referring to sanitary inspector's offices, he said that all offices must have of sufficient ORS packets, gloves, masks, caps to work in the summer. He made it clear that wet and dry garbage should be collected separately.
