Vijayawada: People afflicted by the Covid-19 could choose hospitalisation or home quarantine as per the rules framed by the government, said district collector A Md Imtiaz.

In a statement on Monday, he said people could give their consent letter to physicians to stay at home as per the Covid-19 protocols when they are asked to shift to the Covid hospital, in case, they are afflicted by the infection.

People with symptoms of coronavirus could call Dr Moti Babu on his mobile No 9848497858 to get medical checkup by a team of medical personnel who verify blood pressure, blood sugar, serum, chest x-ray and respiratory problems to decide whether to leave them at home quarantine or Covid hospital.

Generally, people below 50 years without hypertension, blood sugar under control, no heart ailments and respiratory problems, would be allowed to stay home.

The symptomatic persons above 50 years would be shifted to state Covid hospital Government General Hospital at Vijayawada or District Covid hospital at Pinnamaneni Siddhartha hospital.

The collector said in case of home quarantine, they would be allowed after verifying the facilities at their homes. The people in home quarantine period for 14 days must wear face masks, hand gloves and observe physical distance and personal hygiene.

Their health condition would be verified by the physicians from time to time. The collector appealed to people to be alert and take all necessary precautions as the number of coronavirus positive cases are going up.

People should take all precautions while performing their day-to-day activities. He advised people to stay home as far as possible avoiding moving out unnecessarily.
