Vijayawada: Krishna district administration has formed 15 Rapid Response Teams (RRS) in the district to combat the coronavirus and special ambulances are also deployed.

Besides, special call centre with phone number 94910 58200 and land number with 0866-2410978 has been arranged in the district to help the suspected coronavirus infected persons. District administration is responding to the emergency measures being taken by the Union and State government to tackle the spread of Corona virus.

District Collector Md Imtiaz on Wednesday conducted video conference with the officials and asked them to be on high alert in view of the outbreak of Covid-19 in some parts of India particularly in Telangana and Karnataka. Collector said leaves cancelled to the officers and they have to work on Sundays also till further orders issued.

Referring to the facilities, he said special Lab has been arranged at Siddhartha Medical college in Vijayawada to test the samples and isolation wards arranged in 19 hospitals in Krishna district to admit the suspected persons.

He said field surveillance teams are keeping vigil on the NRIs and other people returned from abroad and they are on 14 days observation. He asked the field surveillance teams to shift the suspected Corona victims to the quarantine wards arranged in the district. He made it clear that if the suspected persons do not cooperate with the district administration, they will be shifted forcibly to the hospitals or confined in their houses. He said the district administration can take stringent action as per the Epidemic Diseases Act of 1897 against the suspected persons with symptoms of Covid 19.

Joint Collector K Madhavi Latha, Joint Collector-2 K Mohan Kumar, District Revenue Officer A Prasad, Vijayawada Sub-Collector M Dhyana Chandra and others attended the video conference.
