Vijayawada: Good news to the sports lovers of Vijayawada as the Chennupati Ramakotaiah multipurpose indoor stadium renovation works will be completed very soon and sports activities will be resumed after the gap of nearly two years. The spectacular indoor stadium with seating capacity of 1,000 is getting ready and all works will be completed soon. Sports lovers can practice games like badminton, table tennis, volleyball, chess, carroms. Besides, arrangements were made for Yoga and fitness.

The highlight of the renovation work was wooden floor badminton court. The number of courts increased from four to six and 240 players can hone their skills in the stadium. Lighting also improved drastically with installation advanced lighting system.

Each light has weight of 7.5 kg and permanent arrangements made for repairs and replacement of bulbs at the roof of the stadium court. The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation officials are supervising the works, executed by the contractors of M/s Dharunan World. The organisation has office at Hongkong.

The renovated indoor stadium now can host national and international events. Earlier, fixed poles were arranged on the wooden floor for valley ball, but now mobile poles are arranged. So that the indoor stadium can be used for playing more than one game.

Dr Yuva Dayalan, director of the M/s Dharunan World said the Chennupati indoor stadium will be the centre point for the indoor sports activity in the State. He said nine rooms were renovated for the players and coaches and all amenities were arranged for the convenience of players.

Special care has been taken for construction of the roof to drain out the rainwater and prevent leakage of water. Parking facility was also provided in the cellar. A senior officer of the VMC supervising the works said all renovated works would be completed in one month and sports activities would be resumed at the complex.
