Commissioner of School Education Vadrevu Chinaveerabhadrudu tentatively prepared the protocol to reopen the schools in the State by giving various suggestions to the managements of the schools.
Vijayawada: Commissioner of School Education Vadrevu Chinaveerabhadrudu tentatively prepared the protocol to reopen the schools in the State by giving various suggestions to the managements of the schools. Once the government announces the reopening of the schools, the premises of the schools should be prepared keeping in mind the health, safety and security of the children.
First priority is accorded to prepare the school premises in which starting from the gate, door handle, switches, windows, bathrooms, sink, hand wash, drinking water taps, playground equipment and benches everything should be disinfected. Every student should be checked for fever at the entrance where there will be two automated hand wash stations for 30 children to ensure everyone washes hands before entering school.
The children and teachers would be distributed with washable cloth masks. The teachers and the midday meal staff should wear gloves and masks mandatorily. The headmaster should ensure hand soaps, sanitisers and disinfectants are available at school where sufficient water is available for hand washing and toilets.
The commissioner suggested shift system in schools with one shift for schools with the strength of less than at the rate of 15 per each class from 8 am to 12 noon and two shifts for schools with more than 30 students from 8 am to 12 noon and 12.30 pm to 4.30 pm. The schools with the strength between 50 and 100 shall run alternate day schools wherein first day two shifts first and second batch will come followed by third and fourth batches on the alternate day. It was suggested that contact sports may be avoided and instead individual exercises and yoga may be taught.
Referring to the health, the Commissioner suggested that fortnightly health check-up may be conducted and details of every child health shall be maintained in schools. As per the midday meal, it was suggested that dry ration shall be given until the situation becomes normal. While conducting exams, each hall shall have only 10 students and transportation facility shall be arranged by the District Collector in the containment areas to attend the exam. Separate isolation rooms for students are to be marked for those who show symptoms.
The soft valuation centres shall be arranged at the district headquarters or in adjacent districts. Lift shall be allowed to be used by two persons at a time.During the lockdown period, to ensure continuity worksheets will be distributed at school and detailed instructional videos will be telecast through TV. The expert committee will prepare detailed distance learning modalities and detailed plan of action will be prepared for continuous teaching-learning process.
