Visakhapatnam: Police failed miserably in discharging duties: Kanna Lakshminaryana

Visakhapatnam: Revenge politics appear to be the norm in the local body elections, stated BJP State president Kanna Lakshminaryana here on Friday.

Addressing a press conference here, Kanna said he lost confidence over the state government on conducting ensuing civic body elections peacefully and hence the same will be communicated to the Union Home Minister.

The BJP state president said that the police and concerned officials failed miserably in discharging duties efficiently.

Stating that the YSRC leaders and police were harassing and attacking the contestants of Opposition party candidates, he said many contestants were receiving threatening calls from the ruling party leaders ahead of the polls. "Instead of conducting local body elections in an unethical way and in a hasty manner, it is better the YSRC nominate its candidates," he suggested.

BJP MLC P V N Madhav along with others took part in the meeting.
