Visakhapatnam: The State government is according top priority to women by providing them an opportunity in various sectors, Tourism Minister M Srinivasa Rao said. Taking part in the swearing-in ceremony of the members of Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Devasthanam Trust Board at Simhachalam on Thursday, the Minister said women had excelled and set an example in various fields. "An opportunity is given for a woman chairperson in the Devasthanam.

Unfortunately, several people are projecting it as a controversy though the decision to this effect was taken with a good intent," the Minister elaborated.

Executive Officer of the Devasthanam M Venkateswara Rao along with others administered oath to the members of trust board in the presence of the Minister. Later, they had a darshan of Lord Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha at the shrine.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson of Board of Trustees of the Simhachalam Devasthanam, Sanchaita Gajapathi Raju said, "As the first woman chairperson of the board, I consider it as an honour to get an opportunity to serve the temple." She called upon team to cooperate and extend support to her to contribute to the development of the Devasthanam.
