VS/WS exams to commence by 10 am today

Amaravati: The much awaited examinations for both village and ward secretariats are going to commence within a couple of hours today, across the state. These are scheduled from September 1 to September 8. More than 15 lakh candidates are going to attend in the very first day. Today, the exams are being held in two sessions including morning and evening.

Government is recruiting for altogether 19 types of jobs through 14 exams. Except four exams, the remaining are being conducted in both Telugu and English languages. But, four exams are to be conducted in English only.

This massive recruitment is undertaken to fill 1,26,728 functional assistants in 11,158 Village Secretariats and 3786 Ward Secretariats. Of these, 95,088 are rural posts and 31,640 are urban posts.

The total number of candidates are going to appear are 21.69 lakh. About 15.50 lakh candidates are appearing for exams on September 1 alone. 61,812 candidates are taking exams from September 3 to 8.

Police arranged right security for conducting these exams. Section 144 under CrPC is imposed at all the 5,314 examination centres in thirteen districts. It will be continued till the end of the examinations.

All Xerox centres are asked to close, in view of unforeseen incidents.

The commissioner for PR and RD Girija Shankar informed that no student will be allowed into the exam centre after 10 am or 2 pm today.

The government is facilitating help desks at all bus stations and railway stations across the state to assist candidates. The police also asked to guide the candidates in reaching exam centres within the time. At the same time, police diverted general traffic to facilitate candidates to reach exam centres easily. Extra bus services are being provided by APSRTC, covering every exam centre even in the rural areas. Police gave details on nearest exam centres details to all the auto rickshaw stands across the state. The auto rickshaw drivers and unions asked to give first priority to transport candidates to exam centres.

On the other hand, the exam papers including quotation paper booklet, OMR sheets and others are being transported from strong rooms and satellite strong rooms to exam centres with armed police staff.
