Moderate rains to continue in Andhra for next couple of days

The surface trough is causing rains in many parts of the state. On the other hand, winds are blowing from the northeast and east directions. The surface basin extends westwards from the Komarin region to the coast of northern Tamil Nadu at an altitude of 1.5 km. Also, it has been merged with an ongoing surface trough from the Maldives to the southeastern Arabian Sea, meteorological officials said.

The Meteriological office said that light to moderate rains are likely in the northern and southern coasts as well as in Rayalaseema in the next 48 hours (Wednesday and Thursday). Officials said that the weather will be dry in some areas. Overnight temperatures dropped to two to three degrees celsius in many parts of the country due to clouds.

Meanwhile, heavy downpour recorded in the state at various places with 7 cm in Chimakurthy (Prakasam), 6 cm in Sullurupeta (Nellore), 6 cm in Tada (Nellore), 5 cm in Ongole and Darshi, 4 cm in Ardhaveedu (Prakasam) and Nellore.
