Woman attempts suicide over school fees in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: The incident of a woman suicide attempt by jumping from Prakasam Barrage has created a flutter in Vijayawada on Monday night.

The woman, Kalyanam Suneetha (37) a resident of Moghalrajpuram here in the city, reportedly came to the barrage as she was upset over management of Narayana IIT Olympiad school for not allowing her son to the class for non-payment of the second term fees.

Suneetha said she was insulted by the school management and threatened to give her son TC when she questioned them. She added that the management had charged Rs 85,000 as fees for class 9th and an extra amount for books and uniform.

At the time of the school reopening, they have paid Rs 5,000 as admission fees and paid another Rs 20,000 in a week. However, in the first week of August, Suneetha received a phone call from the management to pay the remaining fees, blackmailed to sent the boy home if the fees is not paid by August 15.

Suneetha's suicide attempt was foiled by the locals who noticed her and informed to the police. The police persons have given counseling to her at one town police station.
