Women asked to lodge complaints on liquor problems at Village secretariats

Amaravati: Women could directly lodge a complaint against the liquor-related problems at the Women Constables, being appointed at all the Village Secretariats. The Chief Minister's office informed in a statement on Monday that the required instructions to the Police department have already given to effectively implement the liquor policy.
The new liquor policy is coming into effect from October 1. The village and ward secretariats system to be established across the state from October 2. The state government has recruited
14,944 women constables for these village and ward secretariats. The office of Chief Minister has informed that, if any women would find any violation or violence at the government-run liquor shops, then they could directly lodge a complaint at these village and ward secretariats without fear.
In the first step towards prohibition as promised, belt shops were closed in the state after YSRCP formed the Government, informed the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in a statement on Monday.
The government reduced 20 per cent of wine shops from 4,380 to 3500 and they will be run by the State Beverages Corporation. In the new excise policy, the Government reduced the working hours of wine shops from 10 am – 10 pm to 11 am – 8 pm.
The Government would be very strict about the sale of alcohol at MRP and who violate the rules and sell alcohol to more price than MRP would be removed from the job with immediate effect. The Government also removed permit rooms in wine shops which will help not to cause disturbances to the people living near the premises of the wine shops.
