The Technology Business Incubator (TBI) of Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) in collaboration with Department of Biology, IISER organised one-week hands on workshop on ‘Cell Culture Techniques’ which concluded on Saturday.

Tirupati: The Technology Business Incubator (TBI) of Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) in collaboration with Department of Biology, IISER organised one-week hands on workshop on 'Cell Culture Techniques' which concluded on Saturday.

Convenor of the workshop Dr D Sujatha said that it was designed for beginners and focuses on hands-on training in cell-culture, plating, counting, sub-culturing, cell-based assays, primary cell culture and staining.

The training imparted in this workshop can be effectively used in research on various human diseases, bio-pharmaceutical, drug screening, tissue engineering, gene therapy, toxicology and traditional applications such as immunology, cell and molecular biology.

Certificates were given to the participants in the presence of TBI CEO Y Mallikarjuna Reddy and Dr Vasudharani Devanathan of IISER. Dr Ambarish Saxena of Pfizer and Dr Vasudharani Devanathan have shared their views during inaugural session.

Participants from SRM, SV University, SV Veterinary University, Yogi Vemana University and SV Agricultural College have undergone training in the workshop. SSSIIE-TBI is an initiative of SPMVV and the National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB) of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.

SSIIE-TBI offers budding entrepreneurs much needed infrastructure support, state-of-art labs (in collaboration with IIT, Tirupati) and critical mentoring. In this regard, CEO of SSIIE-TBI Y Mallikarjuna Reddy requested participants to send start-up ideas/ prototypes to [email protected].
