YSRCP, JSP poll promises irk ration dealers

Visakhapatnam: The Ration Shop Dealers Association strongly opposed the YSR Congress Party and Jana Sena Party's assurances to people in their manifestos. The YSRCP announced that it would appoint a volunteer at Rs 5,000 per month for every 50 families to look after the subsidy goods would be delivered at home after coming into the power. The JSP announced that after coming to power, they will introduce direct cash transfer of subsidized amount into beneficiaries account.
Pointing out the both parties' announcements, Ration Shop Dealers Association president Lela Madhava Rao said that the association has decided to support TDP in the elections as it has implemented several welfare programmes to dealers. With the YSRCP and Jana Sena Party announcements as many as 65,000 families of dealers would be on the roads. If, both parties found any lapses in the system, they should try to rectify the lapses.
The TDP government implemented Rs 5 lakh Chandranna Bhima Scheme to the dealers. The unloading charges waived off and giving Rs 15,000 for funerals, if any dealer died.
The TDP government has also increased the commission on the goods, he said. There were 29,000 dealers and 29,000 assistants besides 5,000 Hamali's and their families leading the lives. "In any system there are some lapses and loopholes.
Instead of correcting the lapses, the YSRCP and JSP announced in their manifestos that the present system will be scrapped. As the TDP government only protecting the rights of dealers, the association has decided to support the TDP in the elections," Madhavarao said.
