MEIL builds 15 pump houses in Kaleshwaram project
With inauguration of Markook pump house on Friday, 9 pump houses with total 3,767 MW capacity have been operationalised
Hyderabad: With the inauguration of Markook pump house and the release of Godavari water into Kondapochamma Sagar by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday, a whopping 3767 mega watt pumping capacity built by city-based infrastructure major MEIL under Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), have been operationalised.
According to a statement by Megha Engineering Infrastructure Limited (MEIL), Markook pump house comprises six machines with 27 MW capacity each.
Apart from the pump house, MEIL also constructed Kondapochamma Sagar reservoir located near Gajwel in Siddipet district.
A total of 22 pumping stations with 96 machines having a total capacity of 4,680 MW were constructed for this mega project, a first of its kind in the world.
Of the total pumping stations, Megha constructed 15 pumping stations with 89 machines, having a capacity of 3,840 MW.
"While 9 pumping stations with a total capacity of 3767 MWs are already operationalised, four more with a capacity of 35.4 MW are ready for operation, and two pumping stations with a capacity of 41 MW are in the completion stage," MEIL said.
The determination of Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao and his regular, intense monitoring along with the irrigation department officials, coupled with the critical support extended by giant electro-mechanical engineering companies like BHEL, Aandriz, Zylum ABB, Crompton Greeves, VEGG, etc., contributed in achieving this record-breaking performance, MEIL added.
The infra giant said it outperformed its performance by completing all the critical works of Kaleshwaram Project, a multi-purpose lift irrigation project taken up by the Telangana government in record time.
By completing majority of pumping stations for this ambitious project in the shortest time of four years, MEIL proved its mettle in terms of its engineering and management capacities, MEIL added.
