IIFA AWARDS 2019 Winners List: Alia Bhatt walks away with the best actress award
The 20th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards were attended by scores of Bollywood celebrities. While Ranveer Singh walked away with the best actor trophy for Padmaavat, Alia Bhatt won the best actress for her role in Raazi.
The 20th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards were attended by scores of Bollywood celebrities. While Ranveer Singh walked away with the best actor trophy for Padmaavat, Alia Bhatt won the best actress for her role in Raazi.
Speaking about receiving the award, Alia said, "The fact that you are all sitting here past 2:00 am and watching us being honoured means you all love cinema and that's why we continue to do what we are doing. It feels surreal to hold this IIFA award for Raazi and to be nominated alongside talented actors... who were my inspiration to become an actor."
Overall, Raazi won four honours while Padmaavat and AndhaDhun earned two apiece. In the top categories, Sriram Raghavan nabbed a win for Best Director for AndhaDhun. Alia was named Best Actor- Female for Raazi, while Ranveer Singh bagged Best Actor- Male honour for Padmaavat.
National Award winner Vicky Kaushal bagged the award in the Best Performance in a Supporting Role (Male) category for Sanju.
IIFA 2019 was one eventful night and saw many big stars in attendance. Yes, despite the heavy rains in Mumbai, celebs showed up at IIFA 2019. Many Bollywood celebs like Ayushmann Khurrana, Vicky Kaushal, Ranveer Singh, Sara Ali Khan, and many others graced the event. While the performances were great, the winners' list time, too is quite interesting. Ayushmann Khurrana's Andhadhun ruled the nominations list in most of the categories and it even won a handful of awards. Alia Bhatt's Raazi too was no behind. Here's the complete list of winners.
