Involved with the Hindi film industry for generations, the Roshan family has been a prominent one in Mumbai for decades now. It was music director Roshan who came into the industry in the late 1940s and by the time he died in 1967, he had built a name for himself and his works.

Following his father's musical footsteps, Rajesh Roshan, who has turned 65 today, began well in the early 1970s and his first major hit was ' Julie' in which Kishore Kumar gave his compositions a great boost.

From then on, his films have withstood the passage of time as he gave great music for films directed by his elder brother Raakesh Roshan throughout till his nephew Hrithik Roshan's debut with ' Kaho Na Pyaar Hai' in 2000.

Rajesh carved a slot for himself quietly even as legends like R D Burman, BappiLahiri, Anu Malik and the later lot came in and dominated the industry during the same period.
