Theatre owners association in Kerala is annoyed with Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal. Distributors and theatre owners of Kerala have expressed their unhappiness about the release of Mohanlal starrer 'Drishyam 2,' on Amazon Prime Video directly.

President of Kerala film distributors association Liberty Bashir who spoke about this has expressed his unhappiness on the actor's decision. "There were expectations that Mohan Lal's "Drishyam-2" would drag people towards theatres after Corona subsided, but Mohanlal has sold his movie to Amazon Prime Video. Tamil Star Vijay waited patiently to release his movie in theatres in spite of many offers from OTT platforms. Mohanlal should have followed his example," thus stated Liberty Bashir.

Even the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce has expressed its disappointment about Mohanlal's decision. "Without considering the current situation, Mohanlal has taken a selfish decision. He has not thought about the plight of the Film industry, theatres, or their workers," thus stated Kerala Film Chamber.

But the production team of the movie has justified its decision. "Theatres in Kerala have not yet opened and it is not known when they are going to open. By that time there is every possibility of the story of the movie getting leaked and the movie will get diluted. Hence we decided to sell the movie to the OTT platform," thus stated "Drishyam-2" movie team.

"Drishyam-2" will be screened on Amazon Prime Video. The teaser of the movie was released on New Year. The movie is directed by Jithu Joseph which has Meena in the female lead role. The thriller is a sequel to the movie "Drishyam" which was released in 2013. The film was also remade in Telugu and Kannada with Venkatesh Daggubati and Ravichandran playing the lead roles in the movies respectively.
