Back in 2013, Sudheer Babu and Nanditha starrer horror comedy 'Prema Katha Chitram' turned out to be a super hit. In fact, the movie itself became a torchbearer for so many horror comedies. Now, touted to be the sequel of that film titled as 'Prema Katha Chitram 2', young Hero Sumanth Ashwin joined hands with two beautiful ladies Nanditha Swetha and Siddhi Idnani under the direction of debutant Hari Kishan. The movie has been carrying a decent pre-release buzz and the trailer of the movie also hinted that it is going to give a hilarious ride to the audience. The movie has finally made it into the theatres today on April 6 2019. Let's check out the review of the movie.
Story:
Bindu (Siddhi Idhnani) is an ardent lover of her college mate Sudheer (Sumanth Ashwin), Unfortunately, Sudheer does not like SIddhi and he loves Nandu (Nanditha Swetha). In a shocking move, Siddhi kills herself and her spirit turns evil with negative intentions. Her evil spirit starts troubling Sudheer and others. How did Sudheer overcome this? Why did Bindu commit suicide? What happens in the end? Forms the story of the movie.
Performances:
The entire movie depended on the two leading ladies Nandita Swetha and Siddhi Idnani and the duo beauties have delivered their career-best performances. Whether it is in the romantic scenes or the horror scenes, their performances are convincing. Sumanth Ashwin delivered an energetic performance. Despite getting a challenging role, he has pulled it off well effortlessly and has done a good job. Vidyllekha is perfect for her role. Krishna Teju did a good job and has delivered an impressive performance in the movie. He is refreshing and got an interesting role in the film. NTV Sai made his presence felt.
Technical Aspects:
Written by Chandrashekhar, the story is just average and there is nothing great to rave about. Hari Krishan's direction is decent.
The way he has handled script is good. Though the story is not that great, his execution is just average. The screenplay could have been better. Production values by R Sudharshan Reddy are luxurious. It is a small budget movie but the producers have not compromised and invested decent amounts. Music by Jeevan Reddy is good. Songs are pretty much average but his BGM, especially during the horror scenes, is catchy. cinematography by C Ramprasad is beautiful. He has produced some bright visuals for the film. Editing by SB Uddhav could have been better as there are so many boring scenes.
Verdict:
The story is the major set back for the film. The entire first half doesn't not even one single comic episode that actually works to make the audience laugh. The comedy done by some character artists is very vulgar and won't work well with even youth. After a boring and irritating second half, the climax somewhat makes sense. The movie suffers from poor narration. Overall, 'Prema Katha Chitram 2' is nothing like 'Prema Katha Chitram' and in fact very worse. Better to stay away from the film.
