Bows have been a favourite memory from our childhood, a tell-tale declaration of youthful femininity when tied to a pair of pigtails or around the waist of a party dress. A run-through of this season's runways conveys that bows aren't just for little girls anymore. The trend is everywhere, from the catwalk to the red carpet, worn in hair, decorating shoes and adorning frocks, the beautiful bow seems to be set to be the standout trend and if you have seen bows popping up over social media from your favourite style bloggers or on the runways of major fashion houses it means only one thing - that this trend that is here to stay. Although bows have a reputation for being best suited to evening wear, there are actually plenty of ways to bring the trend into your wardrobe, whether you want to be bold or subtle. From skinny bow belts tied around your waist, to oversized bows replacing your favourite necklace. From skinny bows tied around Peter Pan collars to flirtatious ankle-tied bow pumps, here are a few ultra-cool ways to wear a bow as without looking like a 10-year-old.

Oversized bow

Try a simple oversized black bow layered on top of classic pieces like a white button down or over your go-to shirt dress. Opt for an all-in-one bow blouse paired with your favourite denim. It's a great way to completely upgrade the look of a closet staple with a checkered shirt dress and statement bow teamed with boots. You can never go wrong in great denim, a good blouse that has a giant bow and a leopard heel, this chic ensemble adds an oomph factor to your look. You could also get dolled up in a gorgeous bow blouse with a fun polka dot skirt.

Cinch your waist

We all know the simple trick of cinching your waist and adding a pretty bow detail is a beautiful way to majorly amp up the lady-like vibe. It is also a stunning way to add even more drama to a maxi skirt. A black bow belt over a full skirt teamed with a puff shoulder top screams polished and chic style. A perfect look for the weekend can be achieved with extra detail, a wrap vest with a wide bow belt.

Wrap your back

A peek-a-boo bow added to the back of a dress is one of my best ways to wear this trend. It's both feminine and flirty – perfect for date night, girls' night or any other special occasion. A chic dress with a bright hue, halter neck tied in a pretty bow perfect option for your next fancy affair. A lovely low back with bow cut-out is a perfect combination of glam and edgy. This style looks incredibly chic paired with black pumps.

Lock your locks in a bow

Use ribbons and clip-in bows to tie up a proper bun, wrangle a side braid or throw your hair half up the adult way. The biker jacket and velvety hair bow strike the perfect balance of rocker chic.
