Actress Seerat Kapoor is currently in that phase of her career where she is sceptical about the scripts she chooses. Popular for her roles in films like 'Run Raja Run', 'Tiger', 'Raju Gari Gadhi 2', 'Touch Chesi Chudu', 'Okka Kshanam', this Mumbai actor is awaiting the release of her upcoming film 'Krishna and his Leela', a Ravikanth Perepu directorial, which has Shraddha Srinath, Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Shalini Vadnikatti as her co-actors. In this exclusive interview, the actress reveals her future plans.
The teaser of her new film was released recently, and it looks promising. In the film, Seerat will be seen playing an independent modern woman and she feels the character suits her well.
"Krishna and his Leela is set in an urban and contemporary backdrop. It is more about a realistic space and relationships. The film has refreshing content and I am sure the audiences would definitely have the experience of watching a never-before seen content. It is a genuine story and I thank director Ravikanth for offering me the role. The makers of the film have been particular in making the film a really good one and we are happy with the output," she said.
Seerat is back to Telugu films after a gap of two years. Her last film 'Touch Chesi Chudu', with Ravi Teja, has tanked at the box office and many had thought that it was the reason behind the actress not having any films in her kitty. But Seerat has denied the rumours and said that she has become very choosy about the scripts and that is the reason why she isn't making films back to back.
"Honestly, I don't look at the numbers. My debut film did really well. All the other films which I have done, people can see me in different characters. I cannot do any random role just because I am offered. I have to connect with it. The characteristics of the role I play are important to me. I want to connect with the audience and they have to look at how I have performed. That is more important to me," added the actress who believes working at a slow pace also leads to success.
The film went on floors in 2019, but it took time to be shot and to complete all the formalities. From pre-production to post-production, everything took a year and that's what caused delay, she added.
Not many, unless they follow her on Instagram, know that Seerat is a fitness freak. Her profiles on social media give fitness goals to many. With her slim and toned body, Seerat slays any outfit that she wears, and actress gives all the credit to her love for dance and workouts.
"I don't work out to maintain a physique for any particular role or character. Also, definitely not to be like how the director imagines me for the role. I do it for myself and to stay healthy. Work out is part of my routine and I think everyone should hit the gym and stay healthy, always," said the 'Raju Gari Gadhi 2' actress, who believes that working with actor like Nagarjuna Akkineni has been one of the best things that has happened to her career.
Asked whether she isn't apprehensive on working with debut directors, the confident actress replies that all she looks for is how her character in the film has been framed.
I cannot do any random role just because I am offered. I have to connect with it. The characteristics of the role I play are important to me. I want to connect with the audience and they have to look at how I have performed
