Nritya Theatre Ensemble presents, '#Feminist', an original play in Hindi written and directed by Nitin Mane, Professor of acting at Annapurna college of Film and Media.
"Freedom does not come easy to her. A subservient woman is portrayed to be the ideal woman. Violation is her cross to bear. Her sexuality is for the pleasure of others, not hers.
An independent woman is treated as a threat to the man's pride. Her role as an intellectually and economically independent being is always questioned,' says Nitin Mane.
What is feminism? What is a balanced measure of gender equality? Do women want equality or have some of them also found comfort in patriarchy? Does the current discourse of feminism in India transcend socio-economic classification?
Has the change begun at home or is it still circling aimlessly as drawing-room conversation, armchair philosophizing, and a facade of the intellectual elite?
"To know all the above answers, come and watch the play," says Nitin.
