No Holi is complete without a playlist of Bollywood songs played at high volume! Similarly, one can always count on Bollywood to inspire us with multiple style options to make a statement on any festival. Let's check out the best way to capture the spirit and colours of the festival this Holi - Bollywood style of course!
1. Lehenga: If you headed to grand Holi party with a lot of glam and glitz, lehengas as worn by Deepika Padukone in the movie 'Ramleela' or Alia Bhat in 'Badrinath ki Dulhaniya' will make you sparkle through the crowd. You can take inspiration from them and create your own lehenga look. Make sure the hemline is above or near the ankles to allow the necessary movement for a Holi party.
2. Classic all-white look: Over the years, Bollywood has given us many white kurti looks. This year you can try out a white flared kurti like Sunny Leone's in the recent times or like Rekha's look from the movie 'Silsila' which is evergreen most easy to pull off. While wearing white, keep in mind that the fabric isn't see through or wear a thick inner layer to avoid wardrobe malfunctions.
3. Colourful dupatta and patiala: Patiala bottoms with short kurti and a colourful dupatta is another look which is comfortable, and Bollywood approved. Choose bright colours like pink, orange and yellow. To get inspiration do check out Aishwarya Rai's Holi look in the movie 'Action Replay' where she pairs a fitted sleeveless Kurti with a pink dupatta and bright green patiala salwar.
4. Shorts and tank: For a casual and modern Holi party, shorts that Deepika and Kalki wear in the song "Balam Pichkari" are the best. Team up with spaghetti, tank tops, tees or kurtis. Layering cotton shirts or short kurtis is a good idea if you are worried about little bulges that might show up with tanks or spaghettis.
5. Jeans: Many Celebrities wear Jeans while attending Holi parties as Denim absorbs a lot of the colour which is good for your skin. If you prefer to follow traditional Holi colour scheme, a pair of white denims with white top or kurti is a good idea. On the other hand, if you are worried about spoiling good denims, an old pair of dark blue denims are the best, in fact the colours can give the jeans a new dimension which can be used later with a solid top.
Apart from the outfit options, smart accessorising should be considered - a bandana to tie your hair up which will also protect from direct colours is worth considering. Try to avoid too much makeup, instead apply coconut oil on the skin before heading out as it keeps the colours from penetrating too much into skin. Make sure to choose organic colours this Holi and make that big splash absolutely Chemical free!
