Professor Caroline Gross, Deputy Dean of the faculty of Agriculture, University of New England (UNE), Australia has visited the professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University (PJTSAU) and interacted with Vice Chancellor PJTSAU Dr V Praveen Rao and other university officers here on Wednesday.

Rajendranagar : Professor Caroline Gross, Deputy Dean of the faculty of Agriculture, University of New England (UNE), Australia has visited the professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University (PJTSAU) and interacted with Vice Chancellor PJTSAU Dr V Praveen Rao and other university officers here on Wednesday.

Professor Caroline, has explained about the purpose of her visit and to explore potential collaboration with PJTSAU in the areas of natural resource management, agricultural economics, food science &technology, policy research and bio technology. She also told about the activities of University of New England and courses offered & scholarships giving to the students for agriculture courses in UNE. She requested the Vice chancellor to have the collaboration in agriculture mutual benefit.

While speaking on this occasion, Dr Praveen Rao has gave the overview of the agricultural scenario & Cropping pattern, weather conditions and major crops grown in the Telangana State and also explained about the activities of university through video presentation. He added that, the Telangana State Government is constructing several irrigations projects to cater the irrigation needs of the farmers who are mainly depending up on rain fed agriculture in the state. He further stated that, there are several challenges and opportunities in water management and farm mechanization, yield gap improvement, soil health improvement, crop diversification etc. he requested the UNE to extend their expertise in those areas. He also requested the delegates of UNE the collaboration is required in the areas of Food Science &Technology, Water management, capacity building for faculty. And he suggested that, there is need to have student, faculty exchange program between two universities. Dr Rao, had suggested the deputy dean of UNE to work out on the signing of memorandum of understanding between two universities for future collaboration.

The registrar PJTSAU Dr S Sudheer Kumar, Director International Programs, Dr Anand Singh, the representative of UNE, Tamil Chelvan and university officers of PJTSAU were present in the interactive meeting.
