Every entrepreneur should aim for a better society
Hyderabad: "Every entrepreneur must be conscious of the well-being of the society", said Dr. Ratnakar, Director Global Hospitals. He was the chief guest for the E-Week inaugural event conducted by ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE) at its campus at Shankarpally, Hyderabad. The Entrepreneurship Week (E-Week) is scheduled from October 28 to November 2 and is being jointly organised by MACON (The Entrepreneurship Cell of IFHE) and IFHE's IIC (Institutional Innovation Council - an MHRD initiative).
Addressing the students and faculty at the packed auditorium, the fascinating story-teller that he is, Dr. Ratnakar held the audience spellbound with his wisdom on leadership and entrepreneurship laced with insightful anecdotes. He said "Entrepreneurs must always have a positive mindset and they should show empathy towards their workers. Their main aim must be to serve the community at large and each task they take-up should be meaningful and purposeful". He urged the students to do things useful to the society at large and added, that an entrepreneurial activity which is not useful to the society is a waste. He also said "Entrepreneurs do not fall from sky; they are born in Schools and Colleges like ICFAI and added the Indian education system/syllabus killed creativity but India is still a great country!".
The budding entrepreneurs were introduced to eight types of Intelligence by Dr. Ratnakar and their relevance to entrepreneurship and leadership. They are: Linguistic Intelligence (communication); Visual Intelligence (systematic observation); Auditory Intelligence (listening); Kinesthetic Intelligence (touch); Existential Intelligence (relating to life); Natural Intelligence (socially conscious); Emotional Intelligence (understanding others) and Spiritual Intelligence (positive thoughts). He said an entrepreneur needs to have a strong mental health which includes realizing the inner potential to the maximum; doing meaningful and purposeful work; having self-confidence and a sense of fulfillment. Dr. Ratnakar also asked the students to familiarize themselves with the different personality traits before venturing into innovation and entrepreneurship. These traits are: Open-mindedness; Conscientious; Extrovertness; Agreeableness; and Neuroticism.
"Every entrepreneur should keep in mind the Five Ws – What, Why, When, Where and Who before starting an entrepreneurial activity that will help them to achieve success", Dr. Ratnakar added.
Earlier, students of Samavesh Club gave a musical performance which entertained the audience. Faculty, Staff and Students of the University attended the event with a sense of enlightenment.
