Last month, I participated in a "Talent Hunt", an event organized by our organization. There was an opportunity to participate in various activities like singing, dancing, writing, instrument playing, painting and few more. The "Talent Hunt" organized at branch level. In our branch, there are around 1000 employees and participants were approximately 40.
Do you think that there were only 40 talented employees? Of course not. Each of us is talented but some of us have never explored our talent. I know that, not all of us can win. However, we can participate at least.
I asked a few friends why there are not participating in those activities. One of my friends said that he does not have any talent to show. While other told me that he has plenty of work in his project, so do not have time to pursue in the event.
One friend told me that he has not pursued in those activities since long time. Therefore, he did not want to participate without practice. One of them simply does not want to participate because he knows that he cannot win.
Do you have talent? Let me ask, if you have a talent? Are you confused? Ok, let us find out.
Are you good at anything or Do you want to be good at something? Do you love doing something? If yes, that "something" could be your talent. It could be painting, writing, swimming, gardening, cooking, singing, acting, decorating, or playing some sports.
The list of this "something" could be very long, but please do not bring "sleeping" or "eating" into this. That could not be like talent, right.
Your hobbies could be your talent: Each of your hobbies has the possibility to become your talent. You need to find it.
In our childhood, many of us pretty good at something. We had many hobbies as a child. As we grow, we stop practicing. We stop pursuing hobbies, which fill us with joy at some time. We stop playing and we forget about those fun activities.
If you want to recognize your talent, remind yourself of your hobbies. Identify the activities in which you are naturally good. Identify the things that fill you with passion.
Everyone is a unique gift of God. Everyone has certain set of skills, which nobody else can have. You have to find your uniqueness and develop it.
Follow the couple of approaches to discover the talent within you:
1. What you are good at? We all have some natural talent inside of us. Some are naturally good at cooking. It makes them happy. Some of us do beautiful painting. Some have god-gifted voice. Some are natural actors. If you have something like that, never let it go. It is your talent. Nourish it in right direction. It can help you live a life you want.
2. What you want to be good at? If you cannot stop thinking about something every single day, follow it. What drives you passionately? What do you really want to be? If you know the answer, it could be your talent to discover. You can always learn the right skill to shape your talent. Grab every opportunity that can boost your talent.
Explore your talent: If you truly want to explore your talent, stop making excuses. Do not say that you do not have time to pursue them. Whenever you find time, practise. Participate whenever you get a chance.
As I was talking about "Talent Hunt", I participated in "singing" and "poetry". And, for the first time, I got a big reward for my writing. I won it for my poetry. You never know when you will start achieving the desired result.
Do not doubt your potential. Do not fear failure. Do what you can with what you have. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said brilliantly, "Every artist was first an amateur."
