Grand celebrations held on International Yoga Day

GITAM:

The fifth annual International Day of Yoga celebrated at GITAM (Deemed-to-be University), Hyderabad on Friday with "Yoga with Gurus".

Prof N Siva Prasad, Pro Vice-Chancellor, GITAM, Hyderabad formally inaugurated the practice session and said that stress in one domain will affect the other and vice versa.

With regular yoga practice, the chronic daytime stress hormone levels drop and heart rate variability increases, which is measure of ability to tolerate stress, Pro VC concluded.

Prof G A Rama Rao, Principal, School of Science, Yoga Guru and former BARC Scientific Officer has provided the instruction to practice yoga and told the benefits of various asana.

DVVSR Varma, Resident Director, Prof A Sreeram, Director, Students Affairs, Prof Y Lakshman Kumar, Dean& Director, GHBS, Dr Ravi Kumar, Director, Public Relations, Prof M Akkalakshmi, Vice-Principal, School of Science, Dr P V Nagendra Kumar, NSS Coordinator, faculty, NSS Volunteers, B.Tech students and B.Sc. (Hons – Dr. Reddy's) students also took part in these celebrations.

Viswabharathi School:

World Yoga Day was celebrated at Police Parade Ground by the school students in Anantapur in a function headed by the District Magistrate and Collector Sathyanarayana. The yoga Instructors,the teachers , the Correspondent J Anasuyadevi and the Headmaster G Ramanareddy were overwhelmed with the performance and said that the Yoga is the real remedy for many diseases and it shows the ways for healing all physical and mental illness.

Avanthi Institute of Engg and Tech

AIET, Tagarapuvalasa celebrated International Yoga Day with students from all streams of Engineering and Pharmacy courses actively participating in yogic as well as meditational sessions conducted by BSNL Asst Engineer and Yoga Guru Vijayanand. Vijayanand explained the energy levels a person has and how they can be enhanced by doing yogic exercises and meditation regularly. He specifically taught proper way of vajrasana and breathing or pranayama, then 'Surya Namaskar' apart from meditative techniques and games for concentrating AIET Principal Dr S N V Ganesh, who presided, thanked both the Central and Andhra Pradesh State governments, as well as the Avanthi Group of Institutions Chairman Mutthamsetti Srinivasa Rao for the vision in bringing ancient traditional knowledge such as Yoga, Meditation, etc. to improve health

AIET Director (Administration) S V Raghava Rao, Head of MBA Department Prof K V Satya Prakash and Mechanical Department Faculty Shariff, who is AIET National Social Service (NSS) Coordinator, along with over 1000 students from all streams of Engineering and Pharmacy took active part in it.

Bhavan's Vivekananda College

Bhavan's Vivekananda College of Science, Humanities and Commerce conducted a demonstration programme on Friday for all newly joined first year under-graduate students in their campus at Sainikpuri. This programme was jointly organised by NCC UNIT (12/2 COY) 2 t BN NCC, NSS Unit, Bharat Scouts and Guides and Bhavan's Center for excellence. Prof Y Ashok, Principal, HODs, 110 faculty members and approximately 1000 students participated. In his remarks Prof Y Ashok, principal appealed to the students to make Yoga a part of their daily routine for better mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing.

To mark the International Yoga Day and to display their support to the Indian cricket team, school children in Chennai performed Yoga in the formation of the cricket World Cup trophy.Cricket World Cup shared a picture of children performing yoga in Chennai on Twitter and Wrote," Incredible commitment levels to #TeamIndia and International Yoga Day from these school children in Chennai, India."Children performed various postures of yoga and in the World Cup trophy formation on a school playground in front of tri-colour.
