International Left Handers Day is observed annually on August 13 across the world. To mark this occasion, the Awareness Club and the Junior Historians Club of Class VI of Delhi Public School, Nacharam made it a special day for all the left handers of their school by conducting a special assembly celebrating their uniqueness and to dispel any myths related to being a left hander.
Hyderabad: International Left Handers Day is observed annually on August 13 across the world. To mark this occasion, the Awareness Club and the Junior Historians Club of Class VI of Delhi Public School, Nacharam made it a special day for all the left handers of their school by conducting a special assembly celebrating their uniqueness and to dispel any myths related to being a left hander.
A research project was taken up by the club students to find out the total number of left handers in the school through data collection and surveys. The students interviewed them regarding their experiences of being left handers and tried to find out the problems they faced in a predominantly right-handed world.
Awareness tips were given to those 313 left handers of the school to make their writing experience comfortable and an awareness was created about specific tools designed specially for them and their place of availability like left- handed scissors, left-handed measuring cup etc.
The Principal Sunitha Rao, in her address, applauded their special talents in problem solving and creative thinking which they say is very high in left handers. The Sr. Headmistress I Sudha, encouraged them to take pride in being left handers and believe in their potential. The highlight of the programme was a ramp walk by the students dressed as some of the famous left-handed personalities, like Sachin Tendulkar, Asha Bhonsle, Charlie Chaplin and our Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The left-handers special assembly concluded on a 'right' note with the left handers taking this message home to promising to make most of their abilities and potentialities of a left hander.
