Tirupati: The present-day students have developed a phobia for mathematics. The situation is so bad that they are not able to remember even ten- digit numbers and are unable to do simple calculations without using pen or paper or gadgets like calculators.

In such an age, here is a person who can do all such calculations and much more without using any such gadgets. He is none other than Jayaprakash Reddy of Tirupati who has earned a place in Limca Book of records. He achieved this feat under the supervision of Suneel Kumar Reddy, the Director of Red Cherries school. Jayaprakash was able to remember all the 50 digits given to him, multiply them with 25 and tell their product correctly - all within 4min 15sec thus creating a new world record. He proved that any herculean task can be achieved easily if it is done with interest. Jayaprakash set this new world record in the presence of Red Cherries School director Suneel Kumar Reddy and S V University professors.

This event was organised on Thursday at Red Cherries School, Tirupati. Suneel Kumar Reddy, Director of Red Cherries School, Dr K Rama Krishna Prasad, retired Principal and Maths Professor, Dr N Bhaskar Reddy, retired Maths Professor, Harshad, Maths Govt Teacher, Oteru ZPHS and M Bhaskara, HM and Maths Govt Teacher, Oteru ZPHS attended as the chief guests and congratulated Jayaprakash.

Speaking on the occasion, Jaya Prakash Reddy said that a record cannot be achieved overnight. Instead it takes years of hard work to achieve it. He explained in his own style how nothing is difficult if it is done with interest. His interest in maths from his childhood is the best example for it. He also added that it is not enough if one has interest alone. It has to be followed up with determination and hard work. He further said that the world record has increased his responsibility.

Commenting on the achievement, Suneel Kumar Reddy, Director of Red cherries school said that he felt very proud as Jayaprakash Reddy was his student once. S V University Professors, Govt School maths teachers and media representatives participated in this programme.
