Hyderabad: Effective water management will give solutions for many a problems faced in agriculture and ensure the profitability to the farmers said by the Dr. H.P Singh, Former Deputy Director General of Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Chairman of Confederation of Horticulture Associations of India here on Wednesday. Dr. H P Singh, visited the Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) and met with the Vice Chancellor Dr. V Praveen Rao and discussed on the proposed global conference on "Innovative Approach for Enhancing Water Productivity in Agriculture including Horticulture".

During his interaction with the Vice Chancellor and University officers of the PJTSAU he told that, the crops grown under Micro irrigation will provide high productivity as well as profitability to the farmers. The Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University and New Delhi based ASM Foundation is to jointly organise the proposed global conference on water productivity in collaboration with many of public and private institutes in India on May 28-31, 2020, in Hyderabad. In this 3- day global conference many researchers across the globe will participate and deliberate on issues on enhancing water management in agriculture and horticulture. Dr. HP Singh has appreciated the efforts made by the PJTSAU to achieve the higher results in teaching, research and extension within a short span of time.

Dr. Praveen Rao, VC PJTSAU explained the university activities and accomplishments through video presentation. While speaking on this occasion, Dr. Rao said, the Telangana State Government is constructing several major lift irrigation projects to provide drinking and irrigation water to the people of Telangana. The proposed global conference has the greater relevance to the state where the larger number of irrigation projects are under construction he said. Further, Dr Praveen Rao says that, this is the best opportunity to collaborate in such a important global conference which has relavant to the state and also he said that, while at the time of conference a visit will be planned to the world's largest Kaleswaram lift irrigation project site. Dr. S. Sudheer Kumar, Registrar, PJTSAU, Bimla Singh, Managing Trustee, ASM Foundation, University officers of PJTSAU were present in the meeting.
