Student Research Achievement Award for UoH scholar

Hyderabad: Sneha Paul, a research scholar working with Prof. Anunay Samanta in the School of Chemistry at University of Hyderabad (UoH)has won the "Student Research Achievement Award" in the 63rd Annual Meeting of the Biophysical Society. The conference was held in Baltimore, Maryland, USA from March 2-6. She presented a poster entitled "Interactions between a Bioflavonoid and c-MYC Promoter G-Quadruplex DNA: Ensemble and Single Molecule Investigation" in front of a panel of judges over three rounds which won her the award in the Biological Fluorescence category.

The work has been published recently in Journal of Physical Chemistry. She was awarded the International Travel Support grant from the Department of Science and Technology, India to attend the conference.

Sneha joined the School of Chemistry at UoH in 2014 after completing her Masters in Chemistry from IIT, Roorkee. Her research work focuses on understanding dynamic processes involving canonical and non-canonical DNA structures. After completing her thesis work, she wishes to pursue postdoctoral studies where she plans to extend her studies to the in vivo level.

The Annual Meeting of the Biophysical Society is one of the oldest and reputed platforms which bring together leading scientists from across the globe who work at the interface of life, physical and computational sciences. The conference has an attendance of over 10,000 researchers with more than 5,000 poster presentations covering diverse topics in the field of biophysics.
