Hyderabad: The Student Chapter of Hyderabad Management Association (HMA) was inaugurated on Friday at GITAM Hyderabad Business School. In the inaugural address Ravi Kumar Peesapati, President, HMA, said that the membership in HMA is participative and not passive.
He narrated how he grew from a sales manager to senior vice president of his company and how association with HMA helped him in his growth. He invited the students to take part in the upcoming programmes of HMA in the month of March 2019, one an endowment lecture and the other a National Seminar.
Earlier Dr Y Lakshman Kumar, Dean & Director, GITAM Hyderabad Business School in his welcome inaugural address recounted the benefits that students can accrue out of associating with HMA. He hoped that with its innovative initiatives HMA would emerge as the best of its kind at the national level.
Nitisha Baalay, Corporate Image Management Consultant and Business Strategist/Mentor, participated as Chief Guest and conducted an interactive session for the students to introduce the concept of Design Thinking. Through an activity in which students needed to find a solution when a friend approaches them with a problem, she explained how Design Thinking is an innovative process of thinking laterally and finding solutions to problems.
Prof K Achalapathi, Convenor, SDP, HMA said HMA links employees and students. Students are empowered to run their own chapter and can organise activities of their choice, such as expert lectures, industrial visits, internships and placements. He also appealed to them to write and contribute to the HMA Newsletter.
The key to professional growth is to actively participate. Hari Vissamsetti, Convenor, IT Initiatives, HMA, spoke on the skill gap that exists between what the industry wants and what students have. HMA aims to bridge that gap. He made the students download the app OORDRZ that his company developed for them to get access to past and live events at HMA.
Prof A R Aryasri, Convenor, Chapter Extension, HMA, exhorted the students to distinguish themselves from their counterparts from other institutions, using the platform being provided by HMA. Distinction comes from a sense of commitment and the attitude of taking responsibility. He suggested that the students organize lecture sessions for the benefit of industries surrounding GITAM campus.
In the inaugural session coordinated by Dr K Sreekanth, faculty at GITAM HBS, various heads of institutions on GITAM Hyderabad Campus, faculty members and post graduate and undergraduate students of GITAM HBS participated.
