Vijayawada: Education coupled with skill need of the hour

Vijayawada: Education coupled with various skills is the need of the hour, said Logan Hunt, student of Clinton School of Public Services while inaugurating the workshop on 'Skill is the Future' here on Tuesday.

Addressing the students who participated in the competition on skills at the Gora Science Centre here, Logan Hunt said that mere literacy and knowledge are not sufficient in the 21st century and one has to adapt modern technology to achieve greater heights in life. He said that the old traditions are useful to some extent in any profession and we need to change them to suit to the latest trends.

"Many old handicrafts have become extinct since they did not adapt the latest technology," he opined. The skills should be paired with the latest technology to keep the old professions alive, he said pointing out that one should study the latest trends all over the globe.

"In this aspect, India remained backward," he said. Later, he distributed the prizes to the winners in the painting and drawing competition on skills conducted earlier on the day. Nau Gora, secretary of Arthik Samata Mandali, G Niyanta, director of Gora Science centre were present.
