Statistical Analysis System (SAS) has the advantages of a long history, commons usage by biostatisticians and a wide range of statistical procedures. Its data step is very powerful for manipulating data but does have its limitation. Output quality from stat procedures is good' said Sudheer Ravula, Senior Biostatistician, Syneos Health, Hyderabad. He delivered a guest lecture on 'Why SAS is popular?' at GITAM School of Science on Saturday.

He narrated the benefits of Statistical Analysis System (SAS/STAT) Software that they are, can apply the latest statistical techniques. With every new update, SAS brings its users a variety of new procedure to meet market requirements, he said.

"The size and type of data is not a barrier. It has graphs like box plots, scatter plots, bar charts and all are customizable to assist users in better analysis. SAS/STAT software is the complete answer to a broad spectrum of statistical needs.

It has decades of experience developing advanced statistical analysis software designed for superior quality and better and reliable results. This wide range of statistical methods can help you solve the most complicated business and organisational problems, such as discovering new information for improving processes, driving development and revenues and retaining customers" Sudheer explained. He advised the budding statisticians that if they have acquired proficiency on this software, a lot of the opportunities have been awaiting across the globe.

Earlier, Dr Mallikarjuna Reddy, Coordinator, B.Sc. Life Sciences and Statistics Department introduced the guest to the students. Prof. K.Maruthi Prasad, HoD, Department of Mathematics, Dr. Shiva Reddy Shere, Associated Professor and students also took part on this occasion.
